Is 300amp fuse ok for 220amp mechman alt?

Would a 300amp fuse work for a 220amp mechman alt? Or would a 250amp fuse be more ideal? I ask because I have a 300amp fuse already.

What wire is connected to that fuse?

Fuse to the specifications of that wire.

Will likely be CCA 0 gauge. I might get OFC though, not sure yet.

I think I see where you are going, if it is CCA 0 gauge then a 300amp fuse is useless as that wire cannot even handle that current.

300 amp is useless anyway.......

OP, what wire are you using, and where is connecting to/from?

Pretty sure I know where you're going with this, and it's where I was going. Lemme know if we're on par here.

Fuses will handle a significant amount more than they're rated for, for a given amount of time. Chart typically looks like this:

That's for a 100A ANL fuse. Notice how it will handle almost double its rated for a good amount of time?

For those that want more, here's a good starting point: http://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htm

Edit: geeeez that's hard to see. Sorry.

Fuse for your current demands, just because the alt is 220 amps doesn't mean you'll ever draw that much current.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
