load350z Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 Any advice will help ... This is a trunk build. I posted the specs from the site but wanted to get other recommendations since the site recommendation is based on the 750 watts rms. I'm planning on feeding them around 7k-8k total daily. CleanSierra Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 They seem to be confused about what Xmax is. Xmax is one way linear excursion. They have specs listed as 48MM "total" however "useable" excursion as 2". Those are the same thing essentially(48MM=1.9"). So my take on this wrote thing is that they are liars. What I believe you've got is a sub with 24MM of Xmax(one way linear excursion) and 48MM of peak to peak excursion(total throw). Based on the T/S parameters, the sub is suited ONLY for ported applications. I'd do a box tuned to 35-38 Hz with about 160-180" if total port area(assuming 24MM of Xmax is a legit number). I'd also do this in about 5 cubes net. I have no idea how it would perform in the real world, but it would be a good starting point. Btw, that's a LOT of port to try to squeeze into 5 cubes Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
kirill007 Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Specs are funny, that's one of the reasons to not go with PSI subwoofers.. But if you are deadset on those, listen to Cleansierra's recommendation. Modeling those subwoofers won't be easy since the T/S parameters will not be correct. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
load350z Posted January 2, 2015 Author Report Posted January 2, 2015 Well I have the subs already.. so yea I'm set on running them. 160 - 180 inches of port area is massive.i did talk to someone from them on fb and they recommend 5.5-6cuft total but nothing about the port area. thanks for the replies! 2002 Nissan Altima v6 3.5 Four Incriminator Audio Death Penalty 15s 5 Pairs DS18 Pro Audio X6.5BM 3 Pairs DS18 Super Tweeters Taramps TS2000x4 (Mids Amp) Incriminator Audio 6.4 (Tweeter Amp) Incriminator Audio 40.1 subs amp Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 3 shuriken batteries (BT-80 under the hood) (2 BT-120 in the trunk) with isolator Big 3 zero gauge. load350z Posted January 3, 2015 Author Report Posted January 3, 2015 Just double checking. .. so the rule of thumb is out the window for these sub? Rule of thumb meaning.. 12-15sqin/cuft enclosure 2002 Nissan Altima v6 3.5 Four Incriminator Audio Death Penalty 15s 5 Pairs DS18 Pro Audio X6.5BM 3 Pairs DS18 Super Tweeters Taramps TS2000x4 (Mids Amp) Incriminator Audio 6.4 (Tweeter Amp) Incriminator Audio 40.1 subs amp Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 3 shuriken batteries (BT-80 under the hood) (2 BT-120 in the trunk) with isolator Big 3 zero gauge. CleanSierra Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 It's my belief that you certainly do NOT have a subwoofer that had 48MM of Xmax. I doubt that is even close to the TOTAL peak to peak number which would make them 24MM of ONE way linear excursion(the very definition of Xmax). You have a mystery sub on your hands and would be best off having a professional use a DATS, Or IM-SG to find T/S specs(yes from D'Amore because it works at finding T/S specs). Otherwise what you so is this: guess. Treat it like a similar 8" sub in its class(I'm not even sure how you'd determine what other sub it's like. Maybe the TC Sounds Epic 8" or the Sundown V2 or V3 8"? Those have like 16-18MM of Xmax which is a much more reasonable number for an 8" driver with not very much spider. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 So, based on 16MM of Xmax subs a tuning of 35Hz, I come up with around 110-120" of total port area for the 8 subs in a common chamber box. That's not too bad and is definitely doable. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
