MalibuMaxxx Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 I get 2.4 ohm resistance at the coil and one side where the speaker wire leads to sub but on the other end i get 0.
Phaeton Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 What sub is it? i see 4 coil readings, is it a quad coil? 1997 subaru legacy outback Four 15's in a almost wall Rockford Fosgate t2500-1bdcp Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on tweets Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on highs Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midrange Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midbass Optima Yellow top batteries 270A Singer alt (working on a bracket for a second) Lots of Second Skin
SQL50 Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 There's other methods, push the cone down evenly on both sides and listen for coil rub (sounds like metal on metal rubbing because it is) or if you can't push the cone down at all it's screwed for sure. As far as multimetering the impedance if you have one side reading correctly and one side completely different that's a good indication. Can you actually see the voice coil on the sub?
Aj11 Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 take the sub out, and hook one coil to your amp. and barely turn the volume up. then switch. if one coil doesn't work or make the sub move.. you got a blown coil. or you will hear a terrible noise jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
jk13 Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 I wouldn't be hooking any of my amps up to a coil that read 0.0... Static drops are my bag.
MalibuMaxxx Posted January 8, 2015 Author Report Posted January 8, 2015 That sub is an example. The 0 reading is where the speaker wire goes to the sub on one side. I get a reading in the center on the coil i think.
islandpride684 Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 you have a break somewhere from that center point you tested to the terminals.... Build Log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186921-blk9te-07-yukon-slo-mo-build/page-3?hl=%2Bblk9te#entry2881410
