Miguels Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 i have a better idea. invest in a scope or dd1 to avoid blowing subs.. another idea. you dont have to get the x.. there are plenty subs out there that will do what you need. X line are meant to get low and they are good at it. mayhem are good at higher frequencies and do alright on the lows. but like i said. research and you will find subs that will work with what you want my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

(with a correct gain match) I listen to music above 40 Hz lol quite a bit of it in the decaf zips. Since the box was tuned to 40 when I bought it all (100$ off a friend 6-7 months ago) and it sounded good I ended up liking it even tho I prefer the lows over 40hz. The sub blew when playing "downtown" from the decaf zip#28. I was being stupid and turned my bass knob all the way up and it tried to hit the low note but sizzled then popped. Not enough power going to the sub that blew. Probably has a lot to do with my tuning and the wiring was kind of loose. First time blowing a sub. That amp will be upgraded. I should have added that it slipped my mind. looking at crescendo 3500 for the x12(s).

Aj11 Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 ummmm.. you used a bass knob trying to hit a low note? impossible on that amp and 99% of other amps. most bass boosts are set at 45hz and btw never use bass boost! ever! i was kinda picking on you because kicker said anything below 40hz is a waste. but most of us here play from 24-50hz with the 30hz area being our tune. personally i don't play anything above 40hz.. and for a demo nothing above 35hz. sometimes i.listen to sublime, or John butler, among other "normal music" but for the most part its decaf between 22/33hz. but running boost will without a doubt continue to blow your subs. just find it funny how your trying to play louder at lower hz by boosting 45hz. jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
