So i was browsing around the SSA store and noticed the x series subs have increased in price but on some other sites they are still the same. what is going on? just a random price increase?

Edit: looks like the prices of other sundown subs went up too. is this going to become normal of all stores eventually?

There is a new 2015 price sheet released that all online dealers will be phasing in.

I checked SSA -- the X pricing is incorrect; that is the price for the v.2 version. I'll let them know to fix that one.

but gas prices are low, that should reflect in your product pricing :P

Haha.

I've been developing the 2015 sheet for many months now.

For the most part; products that have changed in price have either already received updates / improvements -- or will be receiving them very soon. For example; the E v.2 series hasn't changed so the price is also exactly the same for 2015, the X-6.5 & X-8 are also the same, as are all amplifiers.

Pretty much across the board on everything else we've done a few things already; standard XL lead being a big one on the SD-2 & SA series. These also phased into the bigger subs earlier on last year. I am not aware of a single tinsel lead failure of the XL leads yet -- so it's a major upgrade.

Z v.4 went to standard US coils a while back & is getting an updated motor / higher RMS rating early this year. That is reflected in the 2015 price sheet.

X series will be going to a standard US coil for the v.2 & updated motor / higher RMS rating this year. The X v.1 pricing is actually staying the same until they sell out -- then the v.2 kicks in (SSA had put up the v.2 pricing by mistake). On that note... once we make the full shift any future drop-ins will also use the US coils.

And all new platform subs with Mega-Roll surrounds will be phasing into the Mega-Roll v.2 surround as soon as they come in stock.

So -- a ton of upgrades & changes as well.

So is there a new version SA coming out?

A full v.2 is not imminent -- but is in the works.

The current SA series is on "Rev.2" right now which consisted of the chromed motor & XL leads.

There will be a "Rev.3" this year with a bump in RMS rating due to some tweaks to the motor; pricing will not change for that from the existing 2015 updates.

I use the "v" designation for a model different enough that it cannot realistically be used together with older units, and the "Rev" designation if it is still similar enough to be used together with older units.

shizz, RMS rating going up on ZV4 and cost going up...I like the updates but those two things change being able to run them.

Good deal. Just curious as to what was going on.

Dang I have been saving up for an x 15 ( just got an saz 1200d) but will that be able to power a high rms rated x 15 if all the v1's are gone?

It definitely will NOT be less efficient -- simply more maximum capacity is being added.

In all reality the X v.2 will be a bit more efficient... motor diameter is jumping from 190 to 220mm & magnet height from 66mm to 75mm (so the magnet slugs themselves will equal the Z v4). It's pretty significant in terms of motor beef.

Oh nice! Then I may wait and get the v2 and use the 1200 on it for a while until I get the itch to up the power! Thanks for the thorough explanation! You guys are awesome!
