alternator? battery?

I currently have a 110a alternator with 2 yellow tops 1 up front one in the back. They are about 5 years old. no big 3 done and im running ab vfl 200.1 and alpine 5 channel amp for my mids highs. Right now I get voltage drop to 11.9 lowest at full tilt for a song. I am thinking the batteries arent that good anymore but what size altetnator would you go with? 240 or 270? I am gonna buy 1 100ah battery for the rear. Can I get away with big 3 and 2 big batteries on the 110a alt?

My idle is turned up to 800 bc the car is tuned

Someone with more expertise will chime in...

But from experience get away from Optimas. You'd be a lot happier running a quality AGM battery (northstar, Xs power)

Assuming that amp is 2k watts, you would benefit from a bigger alternator as well. You're not driving anything crazy, so you could get away with doing something smaller

Vfl 200.1? Its rated 3800 rms my alpine ks 500rms. So 4.3k total. Im driving 2 12 xfl 12s

110A alt no bueno. Yellow tops are ok, obviously there are better to be had but make sure that whatever you run is in good shape.

For 4k on music a 270 should be fine as far as amperage goes. When talking about voltage, that would depend on PCM

Yellow tops are fine...

why would batteries matter when your trying to hold OVER what they can provide????

people are weird....

Been in many a heated discussion trying to get that SAME point across bro.

Well the only person who does alts for my car is singer alternator. He told me that he has designed the alt for my car to internally regulate voltage at 14.8 or I can get an external regulator. He said I will have a battery light on because I wont be using any of the stock wiring. Think that sounds right he had his internally regulate at 14.8?

I am not even going to pretend to know as much as Mike about alternators, not even close. I will say that if he says it, it's probably true.
