BassMechanic308 Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 im recently undertaking a new project for myself and decided to pick up the PAC LC1 and LD10 after seeing many good things about them from users here and elsewhere. now one of the questions i have regarding them is this. should i go head unit sub rca output, to LC1, then to LD10, then to amp? or should i go headunit sub rca output, to LD10, then to LC1, then to amp? is there any gains or losses to either way or does it not matter with the two. thanks!!! 1997 Ford Expedition, Alpine CDE-133BT, Alpine KTP-445 inline 4 channel, Infinity Reference 6x8(all 4 doors), Kicker ZX500.1 @ 2ohms on Vibe BlackDeath QB69's in 2^ft ported enclose. reedal Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 What head unit preouts do you have that you need to use that to boost the signal? I would say if you HAVE to use it, HU>LC-1>LD10>amp. But use a DMM and DD-1/oscope to set gains. DD-1 or oscope to find max undistorted/unclipped level, and use DMM to make sure the boosted voltage from that LD10 isn't higher than your amplifiers maximum input SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
MrSkippyJ Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 You can most likely get away with out a line driver. What are you using it for? F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
BassMechanic308 Posted February 25, 2015 Author Report Posted February 25, 2015 I have a 2v out rca signal which is low. Amp can see 8V. So if I can match that as a input signal I can turn down the radios gain that's pushed to high. 1997 Ford Expedition, Alpine CDE-133BT, Alpine KTP-445 inline 4 channel, Infinity Reference 6x8(all 4 doors), Kicker ZX500.1 @ 2ohms on Vibe BlackDeath QB69's in 2^ft ported enclose. MrSkippyJ Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 IMO it won't be worth using the line driver. 2v is fine, especially for a single amp. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
BassMechanic308 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 im starting with one amp yes. i intend to pick up a lanzar opti100x4 later for mids and highs most likely. i already know im most likely going to be lacking in the midrange area though. 1997 Ford Expedition, Alpine CDE-133BT, Alpine KTP-445 inline 4 channel, Infinity Reference 6x8(all 4 doors), Kicker ZX500.1 @ 2ohms on Vibe BlackDeath QB69's in 2^ft ported enclose. For 2 amps you don't really need a line driver. Just a properly set gain Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
