OrionStang Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Save up for better amps. Some people have used Brazilian amps with success, but they cant take abuse. Save your money up for a 7.5k on that pair of lvl 5's. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
NYGS300 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Report Posted March 22, 2015 A little update, I bought. DC 3.5k and set it up with the stock alternator. Clipping at 1/4 of volume for the bass knob. Bass level on eq is set at half. Desperately need the upgraded alt. Is it possible to jump the new alternator with the old one?
magillaru Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 That was quick..... Oh and you're probably clipping because you're using the bass knob (if it's a bass boost knob)..... Singer Alternators Team Asshole #anothershittysingerbuild
NYGS300 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Report Posted March 22, 2015 Lol yea. Went to my local store and said screw it, I picked up the 3.5k. I'll def be getting another one as soon as I can get my power up. No dimming or lights or anything like that though.
NYGS300 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Report Posted March 22, 2015 Well that's the thing, the bass knob has a clipping indicator on it, so I know when the amp is clipping. I set the eq, so I control the bass from the bass now or is that wrong?
magillaru Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 I don't think those clipping indicators are very reliable. I don't know how you tuned everything but if you did it with everything flat on your HU, turned your gain up on the amp, then messed with the EQ on the HU other than turning things down to balance it out......AND THEN turn up the bass knob, it's not going to take much to clip that signal. There's a difference between a bass boost knob and a gain control knob like the PAC LC-1.....if you have everything setup correctly, you shouldn't need a bass boost knob.
