1 amp per voice coil

I'm not looking to do this.....just curious.....

Typically, people are running either 1 amp per sub or 2 subs (application dependent obviously....and I guess this goes for my question as well).

I knew a guy in high school back in the day that ran a setup like this (1 amp per voice coil on dual coil subs)...... Is it less common now since there are bigger amps and you don't need two amps to get for example 5k on one sub?

Just wondering if people are still doing this?

I wouldn't mind throwing a 750.1 on each sub though!
