Help for battery and wiring !

Recommended Posts

Thanks hoit, I will check xs batteries! I have a twingo of 2006 haha, So I don't think that add a other alt is possible..

But, if that is possible, how many ah or kind of batteries I should have for that system ? (With the 70a alt)

there's a general formula to find out how many amp hours you need vs. how many amps you are generating from the alt, minus running the rest of your electronics...I just can't think of it right now...surely someone with more knowledge will chime in...as I can never seem to learn enough as well! I've always been told...make your mistakes on someone else's clock!!

Edit: I would look in to a high output alternator...never hurts...especially since most of us end up upgrading, rather than down-grading! Singer, Mechman, ...there are very reputable companies out there that will work with your needs!

Okok, where can I found these general formula ? I looked to xs batteries site, but I don't know wich ah I need for my setup ... The most important is to have o lot of Ampers (generate by the alt) or a lot of Ah ?? I don't understand anything haha

Thank you very much for the videos, right now I begin to understand haha.

So I calculate like the video:

I would put 1100 w to the sundown so :

1100/0.7 = 1571 W necessary to the amp because the efficiency is 70%

1571/13 = 120.8 A necessary to do 1100W

Accessory take 40%, rest 60% for the amp :

With my 70A alt : 70*0.6 = 42A

120.8-42 = 78.8A, so 78.8 a.h necessary with the betteries

So, just for the sundown, 78 a.h are required at minimum right ?!

To calcule the a.h. needed (for consider the second amp), I just have to add 180w to 1100w ? (It deliver 180 w bridged for mediums & tweeters) .

If you need 200a of draw for the system and only have a 70a alt to power it with you'll need 130a in capacity to cover the rest and you should include some overhead to keep the voltage from dropping like a rock, i like to add 20% or so, i would get enough batteries to cover 150ah to supply your needs for the time being until you can come across a high output alternator to supply everything without worry of voltage drop.
