JScustoms05suburban Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 Anybody else have that belt squeak in between gears with quad alts? It's an 05 burban with the 5.3l, and I'd love to get this shit to stop squeaking. Aftermarket tensioner, or different belt, (I'm using gates green stripe atm), or any real suggestion would be awesome. philrab Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Bought the bracket or built it yourself? Have a pic of the setup? Quad alternators I don't have experience with but belt driven superchargers I certainly do. The common issue there is belt wrap/engagement on the pulley. If the belt isn't wrapped around 60/75% of the alternator pulley, may not have enough conact to prevent some squeaking. More tension may shut it up, and fuck up the bearings in the alternators at the same time. 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount. hdorre Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 i have squeal with a single alt when i shift fast, unless i revmatch my downshift.. but that makes sense. May wanna work on better wrap... but with quads.. you're bound to get it unless you go full retard. Karkov Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Every quad I have heard in real life squeals under full tilt conditions, so if that's all you're talking about I am not sure what to offer for advice. If it squeals a lot more than that, like wet outside, accelerating fast, etc. maybe 1" shorter belt? 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Toxik_Audio Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 You also want to make sure your pulleys are aligned because if is off it will squeal common just on regular Chevy's
