Brody Smith Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 im running a FI SP4 18 on a hifonics brutus brx 2400 and need some batteries but i am clueless on what to get. i was recommended to get xs power batteries but there are so many options. do i need more than 1 battery? and what batteries should i get?
blkvenm2001 Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Xs power for the win. You could probably go with an s3400 under the hood its supposed to be good up to 2500 watts when used as a starter battery. That is if you have an ho alternator. I'd say that amp isn't very efficient so its probably power hungry. If you want to go with a second battery in the back just to power the system I'd recommend their xp series as they are designed specifically for being used as a secondary power source for car audio and not made to start the car. The xp3000 is a beast of a battery it has 120 amp hours and 240ish reserve capacity. I am running a prime 400 rf amp on my infinity kappa door speakers and a sundown saz2500 on my two sa12s at 1 ohm and I have a singer 220 amp alternator Xs power s3400 under the hood and the xp3000 in the rear with all audio pipe 1/0 gauge ofc wiring for the big 3 etc.....it might be a little overkill for my setup but I'd rather have too much than not enough plus its nice to be able to upgrade later on without touching the electrical. I'd say I'm good to run 5 k RMS or better easily. I haven't got my stinger volt meter installed yet but I tried out my buddies digital meter that hooks into the CIG lighter and idk how accurate it is but I stayed between 13.8-14.3 and never dropped out of that range even slamming decaf full tilt with the heat running and headlights on so I basically had 0 voltage drop and my lights never dim any at all even under the hardest of bass drops. My advise is don't cheap out on anything especially your enclosure and your electrical system and that's the two things it seems people tend to cheap out on the most. If you are going to spend hard earned money on a nice setup id siggest for you to spend some more hard earned cash on a solid electrical system as it will ensure you get the most out of your stuff and also ensures the longevity of it as well. Don't cheap out. Either of the above batteries will do you good and both is even better....i suggest an ho alternator as well....check out mike singer and singer alternators he's got excellent prices products and customer service hope this helped...
ALPINE408 Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 I would get the 12 volt battery....... Have you ever had your woofers blown?

Batteries and a big 3 upgrade are next on my list and possibly an alternator later on because they are difficult to replace (ive heard they are difficult but never attempted it myself) the xp3000 is a bit expensive for me. is there anything you would reccomend as a secondary battery under 200$?
Karkov Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 XS Power makes some great, great stuff. There are other good companies out there though. I run 10 XS power batts. myself Also, that sub could use some more power.... I'm sure it gets powered fine right now but I'm just saying as an FYI 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. magillaru Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 Any difficulty with replacing an alt is going to be vehicle dependent (some are more accessible than others) but overall, it really not that bad. I had to take a few extra steps with mine just so I could access it but once I got to it, it was pretty easy. As far as batts, obviously make sure it's an AGM and you would be more than fine with Deka or any rebranded deka (oreillys super start agm, die hard platinum agm, and others). I made this decision with my build and they hold a charge just fine....my decision going with a deka/rebranded deka was also supported by someone who I would trust wth my entire build and electrical system if my life depended on it.
