sinister-kustoms Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 Here's a build I did a couple of years back. The car is a 2006 Ford Falcon XR6. It's our 'family' car, but with a 190kw inline 6 and 6 speed box, it gets along nicely Nothing super fancy equipment-wise, but I spent a lot of time on the install as a bit of a demo for Sinister Kustoms. The stock head unit is integrated with the ICC (interior command centre) and sadly can't be removed, but puts out a decent enough signal to work with. I initially had Massive Audio SX6 point source speakers in the front doors, and the mid bass drivers from the SK6 component set in the rear deck for a bit of rear fill. The mids are still in the rear deck, but the SX6's have since been replaced with an Image Dynamics X57 component set. All running of the stock speaker wiring for now - the cars are prone to interference when using LOC's. I've since scored a Massive Audio Blueline OEM summing D/A converter, so need to find the time to get that installed and get the BX4 amp put to use instead of just looking pretty lol. The B2 mono amp feeding the twin Neo8 subwoofers uses the high-level inputs which are tapped in to the rear speaker wires. There is a little bit of interference, but it's not noticable from in the cabin, so I can live with it for now. The stock speakers are Ford's oddball 6x8" shape so I made up the speaker adapter baffles from 6mm HDPE plastic. Wiring is EFX 4 gauge taken from the alt. lug in the stock main fuse housing. Grounded using the factory rear seatbelt bolt hole, then punched a couple of holes in the rear bulkhead to run the cable to the trunk. https://www.facebook.com/SinisterKustoms

These cars have an odd shaped trunk floor and there's some dead space under the rear deck, so I wanted to use that without extending the box in to the weird shaped part. I know I had at least 1 c/ft to play with which was more than enough for the pair of 8's sealed, so just build it as big as I could in the space available. The main fascia panel is covered in 3M DiNoc black brushed alloy finish vinyl.
