Jake Pichola Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 So i just got my two sa 15's, and i put them in my ported box with 3 cu per sub, had it wired to 2 ohm just for testing and i was only playing them about 75% of what the amp can do on 2 ohms (its a rockford r1200, so 400 watts going to each sub max) and i started to smell the coil and i could feel the heat on the dustcap. my gains are set right, ive put an oscilloscope on it to make sure. the subs also make a very loud sound like bottoming out, which i can hear over the bass. i really dont know why this is happening and ive read such good reviews about these subs so idk. any help would be great!

What were you listening to when this happened? i know its roughly 800 because im putting a 2 ohm load on an amp that is rated at 800 watts on 2 ohms, i set my gains by running an oscilloscope with this subs and turned the gain up on full volume just before the wave started to flatten. box tuned to 34 hz and i was listening to rap that hits 35 hz notes

Are you saying both sides of the enclosure are those dimensions or that's the whole enclosure because that doesn't add up right?
