Edit: Update 7/29/2015

Hey guys,

So here is my car's sound system story. Keep in mind that this post may not be a descriptive or a picture catalog but as of right now this is everything. I made this Member's build log for my own fun and to see what anyone on the forums think about everything.

2001 Toyota Corolla

First started out as all stock with a cassette player. First purchase was a Monster Cassette tape with aux cable. That impressed some high school friends with the cardboard speakers haha.

Then went and purchased a few things. Boss 612ua, old Alpine Type-S 10", an amplifier from a classmate, and a Planet Audio 4 Gauge Wiring Kit.

boss612.jpgalpine_type_s.jpgalpine_type_s_prefab.jpg

Later on, I purchased a Alpine CDA-105, old Rockford Fosgate P2 12" with a Crunch amplifier and prefab sealed box. Purchased a prefab ported box the same day. Around the same time I also purchased my first 2 speakers, some Pioneer TS-1675Rs from a friend, put those in the front.

I blew that sub, and sold everything except the Alpine deck, 2 Pioneers, and the wiring kit.

After I blew the RF sub, I finally got started on my serious system. Decided to go with Soundqubed after hours and hours of researching everything figuring out what I wanted exactly. Got a HDS212, 750.1, and a prefab ported box from SonicElectronix.

I kept this for a couple months, but later I came across a HDS312 on Craigslist and had to pick it up. I then started getting into making my own custom box for subwoofers. Started making one but I messed up and got a slab of 5/8" MDF... So ghetto rigged that together and put my HDS212 in that. Made a ridiculous improvement but just the box itself so very satisfied about that.

Around the same time I went and got 3/4" MDF and made the box for the HDS312, as well as got 2 new Pioneer TS-1675Rs from Wal-mart. Put the new ones up front and old ones in the rear. Sound quality for the speakers jumped significantly over having 2 stock speakers in the back haha.

Here is the HDS312 and the 3/4" MDF box. (Box specifications provided by the one and only Joe X)

After this I finally got my Soundqubed 0/1 Gauge Wiring Kit and 0/1-4 Gauge reducers from KnuKonceptz

That is pretty much everything up to date.. I wish I had more pictures but in the process of doing everything, I don't take the time to stop and take a photo or 2 haha, but maybe that will change. Anyways, as for my HDS212 that I still have and the crappy box I made for it. I also have my friend's amp from his car that blew up soo what I did was. Gave my own home a sub! :yahoo:

Here is a picture of everything I pulled out of my Corolla lol

And I put most of the wiring and the Sub+Box in my tC for safe keeping until I get a new headunit.

As of right now, my next purchase is a new headunit. Still deciding on which..

I still need to learn about installing one in this car. I don't know if getting a Double-DIn would be easier since my car comes with one stock, or if I need to buy a kit no matter what and it just depends on if I want a Single or Double. If someone can help me out with that, greatly appreciate it.

Thanks ahead of time guys! Hope you enjoy

I had a pair of HDS312's, they were awesome.

Looks like you have not done sound deadening yet. That's the next step.

Yuuuup! Completely forgot about that yes, definitely. It was mainly depending on if I was keeping the car long enough or not but it looks like it. So might buy SQ's deadener and start getting rid of all the damn rattling

That right there is pretty much moral of the story. At first I didn't know much if at all about car audio. But now I'm the most knowledgeable out of all my friends, and here on out I keep upgrading lol.

Question, I have a brand new Pioneer GM-6300F I've been waiting to install because of; lack of power, or not until I have components.. But I was curious if I currently am capable of supplying the power, should I put it in and hook up my 4 Pioneer A1675rs to it? Would it be worth it I guess?

Thanks

If you all ready have it, install it and decide if you want to keep it. It's going to sound a hell of a lot better than on your head unit since it will still be giving your speakers about 3+ times the amount of power you would get out of a head unit.

I kinda figured that, I was mainly asking if I could even power it. Pretty sure I need a second battery for when I go up to 1200 watts so lol
