akuma4u
Ive heard 3 things about running the subsonic filter for sealed boxes 1) its not needed so just leave it off or the dial all the way to the left (around 15hz for most amps) the box will take care of the filtering of super low frequencies itself 2) for sealed, it should be set to 25-35hz 3) it should be set to the lowest frequency the sub is able to play (i.e if the sub is rated to do 22hz-200hz) then the SSF would be set to 22hz) so which option is the right way to go? thanks

firebirdude
A sealed enclosure's natural rolloff is plenty.
SnowDrifter
You don't need to use it. Your SSF is there to prevent uncontrolled mechanical movement when playing below tuning in a ported enclosure. Sealed boxes don't unload, so there's no need. It's not going to hurt anything if you use it so you sleep better at night, just know it's not serving much of a purpose in this scenario ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
akuma4u
well to all u guys saying u dont need it, what about this post: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/156565-how-to-set-your-subsonic-filter/ "In a sealed box: The lower the frequency, the more excursion your subwoofer exhibits in order to play it loudly and accurately. A sealed box is tuned by enclosure volume, larger enclosures tune lower, smaller enclosures tune higher.Subsonic frequencies potentially damage your subwoofer because they make it expend a lot of energy, travel right to the limits of its excursion and play below the enclosures tuning. So for safety, we want to cut those frequencies out. For a sealed enclosure you adjust the subsonic filter to 25-35 Hz, to filter the extremely low bass frequencies your woofers unable to play."
