Jordan Thurston
Ok guys I have 2 soundqubed hds312s in a ported box Ive had the subs facing into the car and they sounded good but weren't as loud as facing towards the back of the car but my trunk rattles so bad that's all I hear from the outside when I turn it up. I'm going to face the subs towards the front of the car again what I'm wondering is if I seal the trunk off will it get louder than not sealing off the trunk ? sebringR/T
Yes, it will be louder. It will keep all the pressure in the cabin rather than letting it escape into the trunk. This will allow it to be louder and move more air. Jordan Thurston
Ok so it's worth doing for some reason before when I Had them facing forward it got a lot louder with the trunk open which makes no sense to me but I'm going to go ahead and seal up around the box and see how it sounds. Triticum Agricolam
They got louder when faced forward with the trunk open because the sound wave is bouncing off the back the trunk and cancelling out when you have the trunk closed. If you fire them forward and seal off that won't happen. Joe X
If fact opening the trunk is a way to test if a seal off is correctly done or not, if done well bass stays unchanged trunk open or closed.
Jordan Thurston
Now that kinda makes sense I may have to go ahead and seal it off now
