How big does it NEED to be? [alternator ?]

Recommended Posts

I currently have an 80 amp alternator [87 Chevrolet celebrity].

i am running 2 kenwood KAC-9102Ds, 60amp max a piece.

i can get a 110A bolt on alternator.

would this plus a strong battery be enough to run the system @ full tilt?

as it is the voltage drops so low that it turns off @ the dash.

i can get a larger one if needed, but the 110A will only cost me like... 50$ and i dont want to start dumpin money into this thing, cuz im working on getting a Seville here soon.

<- proud seville owner  :D

I also liked that mine came with a nice 140 amp alt.

Doing the big 3 upgrade will help if you havent done so already.

Depending on what size power wire you are using, it could be upgrade to lower the resistence through out the wire.

Would you be using the 110 amp plus your stock 80 amp, giving you 190 amps total? or would you just be swapping the 80amp out for the 110 amp? The 30 extra amps will help a bit more, but 190 would be way better.
