ethan_leonardo
I need some people with some personal experiences to give me some advice. I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner that is in need of all new suspension. It has original springs and original toyota shocks in the rear that probably came on it. I have narrowed it down to KYB and Bilstein. Any comments on these brands or any advice is greatly appreciated. Also any recommended spring brands, or mods I should do to improve ride, and or looks. Thanks!
Moreno93
It really depends what you want your shocks to handle. I'd say get atleast the bilstein 5100's or comparable, but if your jumping your truck & offroad alot look into better.
ethan_leonardo
Thanks, I don't plan to offroad any. I do tow a single axle utility trailer quite a bit. I'm just wanting something that will provide a nice ride, handle the weight of the trailer, and last for a long time.
Moreno93
Bilstein 5100's would be grea then
boom50cal
the 5100's are pretty much in complete agreeability across all boards for how nice of a daily shock they make on a 4wd street driven pickup. All the F150forum guys recommend them, GM guys too. go for them if you find a good deal. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole. ethan_leonardo
So far I've found 5100's that adjust between stock and 2.5 inches of lift. Complete kit $350 https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/95-04-toyota-tacoma/bilstein-5100-height-adjustable-front-shocks-for-1995-2004-toyota-tacoma/
sphinxbccp
I have a full 5100 set up (front and rear) with OME 885x springs on the way for my Tacoma, from what I've read it should be a nice set up. Like others have said it seems like everyone swears by these shocks. If you haul a good amount of weight you could look into helper bags. That'll be next on my list!
