WillistonAudioLabs
I simply could not believe the claims when I saw the Rockville Audio RXD-T2. Here are the specs provided by the mfg: 400 watts x 2 at 4 ohms 600 watts x 2 at 2 ohms 1200 watts x 1 bridged at 4 ohms Amp is compact, full range Class D. Amp currently costs $115 shipped, which is insane! Just a little more than the 500W flea market amps Steve is testing on Amp Test Tuesdays. I decided to buy this amp direct from Audio Savings, just as any of you can do. It was not sent to me by the mfg or I was not paid by Rockville to test the amp. Just bought one out of curiosity and wanted to show you guys my findings... I've received a lot of questions like, "how does it sound?". Well, it sounds ok in the preliminary tests I've done, but I have not done extended listening sessions with high end speakers as I plan to in the near future. I tested it with my 12" Infinity Perfect subwoofer (high end SQ subwoofer from 2002) and it performed well. I did notice some inability to control the sub in certain situations (difficult to explain, sub moved when there were no bass notes). My demo music contains some very demanding Jazz tracks and I know these tracks well. More details in the upcoming full video review. WillistonAudioLabs
It also did right at rated 400x2 at 4 ohms, 40Hz with 14.4V input! The amps I know from way back when that did this kind of power were called "surfboards" as they were big and long. Those were Class AB and this one is Class D. If you want a great explanation of how Class D amps work, check this out: See my videos on YouTube http://www.willistonaudio.com Many tests and demos of OLD and NEW SCHOOL car audio gear! WillistonAudioLabs
That´s insane!! Can you try a 2 ohms bridged connection? i´m so curious! Yeah, I tried 2 ohms bridged, it went into protect. Not designed for that load as it's a high voltage, not a high current amp See my videos on YouTube http://www.willistonaudio.com Many tests and demos of OLD and NEW SCHOOL car audio gear! ECaudioG
Wow that's incredible power for a budget amp!! I was wondering if you could run a test on a Boss chaos extreme 5000 mono amp. Yea they're budget brand however do they put out at least half of what it says on the amp? They run for about the same price as the Rockville.
