(4) SQ HDS312s moving from 5^3 sealed to 15^3 4th order in 2007 Silverado Ext Cab

Recommended Posts

So about 2 months ago my assistant manager replaced his 95 Tahoe with this Silverado. It's just a basic LS package but it's black which is what he wanted. He did a 5/3 drop on it and put 24" chrome wheels with 30 series tires. So it looks pretty damn good now (pics later). He had 4 RE SeXv1s in about 8 cubes ported in the back of the Tahoe but obviously that wouldn't fit in the truck and he wanted to keep his back seat anyway. After begging him to no put a box under the seat he took my advice and opted for a blow through. Problem is that the shop he took it too convinced him to just push a sealed box up against the cutout in the cab. The other problem is that they didn't have the slightest clue what they were doing. The box they built was too tall and hit an angle piece of sheet metal high up on the bed so the box is like 2.5 inches from actually sealing against the cab. Not that it would anyway as the cutout is only 10 inches tall and the subs are 12s. So you can reach your fingers under his seat and touch the bed liner in the bed. Terrible. He wound up blowing one of the REs and they all shared airspace so it was either replace it with a V2 or find some new subs. I had been catching up on the industry and discoverer that AQ was still around by another name and decided that the HDS was a great replacement for him. And now we're redoing it with a 4th order. It's about 4.5 cubes sealed and 12ish ported. 225^2 inches of port area tuned to 49 hz. Everything being powered by an Audiopipe 3000 until we can get the Autotek MM4000 working. The AT has never been installed before but is pretty old and something is causing it to click and put out no power.

Anyway, materials are being delivered to the house today so build starts tonight. Hopefully my wife is enough to help me with a 400 lb enclosure. First pics this evening.

I asked for 1.5 inch drywall but he insisted on these star head screws. Should be fine.

6 tubes of caulk and 2 jugs of resin. Gonna fiberglass the top front corner just in case my angle cut isn't perfect.

Thanks man. Ill hit you up if I need you. I have thisnone pretty much mapped out. Biggest headache will be handling 280 lbs of enclosure without a helper.
