arcaudioman Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Hey guys, I'm running 2 arc audio 15s on a DC 2.0k tuned with the dd1. And after cleaning up my build I decided to retune the amp. Before I'd get distortion around half gain, now I have to turn the gain all the way up and add a little bass boost to get distortion. Also I noticed now my bass doesn't come on strong until around half whereas before it came on strong with barely any gain. I've changed my rca (jl audio) changed my deck (alpine 149bt) still same result. I would think if my amp were going bad I would get distortion immediately.. Any ideas?

arcaudioman Posted August 10, 2015 Author Report Posted August 10, 2015 All settings on deck are the same (sub level-0) I also set the lpf on the deck at 63hz. No Chambre there and BTW I changed the rca and deck after this began, trying to chase a solution. Changed deck for same model so no change there. Did it just in case my deck was malfunctioning
reedal Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Play track one of the DD-1 CD and measure the output voltage from the RCAs. make sure you're getting VAC out of them. Also, check subsonic/infrasonic high pass filter on amp to make sure it's set to ~28hz and you didn't accidentally confuse it with the LPF. It can happen. arcaudioman Posted August 10, 2015 Author Report Posted August 10, 2015 Lol I'm in a sealed box so my subsonic is at 0 and my low pass is wide open so I can set that at 63 with the deck. I'll check the rca tonight. I have the twisted jl audio rca do I still just put it to ac voltage 200, clamp positive to pin and negative to surround?

420c Posted August 19, 2015 Report Posted August 19, 2015 How is your voltage feeding the amp. Its possible if your voltage was on the low side and you played some distorted music for a long you could have been slowly killing some components in the amp. Did the power loss happen instantly after the retune?
