very nicely done, those sail panels came out really nice. If you really dont want to paint why not try to find some black leather that matches the rest of your interior rather than cloth?

I would do vinyl, but it's going to be really hard to stretch that over these. I may try that very soon though, you'll see why in my next post.

I am having the toughest time with these sons of bitches:

Went with SEM texture coating, and then acrylic enamel on top of that. It's all fucked up. Looks good in some spots, but inconsistent and I made a couple flat spots when sanding the SEM.

I'm frustrated. I'm sanding it all flat and then plastidipping.

On the plus side, they've never been smoother:

Should have done this from the beginning. Finally, looks good. And matches pretty close to what the original sail panel finish was. I'm happy.

Now the trick is to not mess them up before I put them in the car.

Nice job man they look great.

I do see on potential issue though, how are you going to screw the tweets in without tearing the plasti dip?

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

those look flawless, gil.

Thanks man. I'm really happy with them. Took long enough, sheesh.

Thanks! I'm going to hope that dries hard enough for me to lightly get a bit through lol. If not, I'll just cut around the hole with a razor. It will work out.

Unfortunately I haven't done much. Only thing I have done is measure my ground cable for under the hood. Haven't had much time, and I don't see much Spare time in the next month. I'm gearing up to flag marshal at the Lone Star Le Mans this weekend, then I'll be cleaning and prepping for the woman's visit which will carry me out to mid October. I'll try to get a couple things done in that time but nothing major will be happening for sure unfortunately.

feel you man. Exact opposite situation. I've got all the time, just no motivation to go out and get it done.

If you would, would you post a pic of the pods next to a piece of factory black plastic? Considering doing something similar in my pickup.

  • 5 weeks later...
So, not sure at this point that this is going to be completed at all. Me and the woman talked, and I might be giving her this car when she gets over here and then picking up something else for me. If that happens, all of this would be coming out, as she's fine with stock stuff and doesn't want anything loud. And I really don't want to do all this work to pull it all out a month later. Have to think about it a bit.

Should this build not go down, I'm seriously considering unloading most of my stuff to fund a new camera. I'm kinda thinkin' about it no matter what happens with the car, to be honest.
