Sub Question

What is the best 12" Sub for under 500 that has at least 600 RMS and no more than 1000 RMS. I was looking at some JL w6's which are a little to expensive i think, and i was looking at Zv4 which have to much RMS i think (for a starter)

For the best sub under $500 that's what you come up with?

I've owned a pair of t1 12's and while they are nice subs they are hardly the best sub under $500.

What are your goals for the system?

Also underpowering a sub is fine and it would give you the ability to add more power when you're ready to do so.

too many options for subs under $500 that fit in that wattage range. And also there is no "best".
And I wouldnt even think about comparing JL to a Zv4. They aren't even like for like.

That price range doesn't fit the power range you are looking in... unless you just want to pay for an over priced product. If you like Sundown, just buy what you want... Throwing 1000w at a Zv4 isn't going to kill it... Unless you crank the gain up too high on the amp and seize up your sub from clipping. You will just have room for upgrades on your power system once you get a feel for it...

The Sundown SA-12 is also a solid sub... It's under rated and 1K would probably be perfect for it.
