vw0404 Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 hey everone , let me just say now I appreciate all help and please be gentle lol,for electrical I have 370 mechman alt ,1 xs d4700 under the hood, 3 xs d3100 in the trunk, 2 runs of 2/0 power and one run of ground ..just ordered more .the amps are 2 crescendo bc3500 2 sp4 18s dual 1 vc. box is around 14.8 cuft tuned to 28-29hz ....the box is sorta like a block T don't have pics cars at my brothers... its 44 wide in the front... 31 wide in the rear.... 31.5 depth... 29.75 height .. slot port is 9 by 24 11/16 x24 11/16 ...gain is set using smd dd1 ..I tried testing yester day and every thing sounds fine then once I start increasing volume the subs sound like crap almost like a mechanical sound hard to explain tried switching rca used a different hu ...is my box that far off spec ...also it felt like there was no air movement through the port at all but woofers were moving ...please help this got me going crazy !!! thanks

Triticum Agricolam Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 After you check to see if the subs are out of phase I'd suggest you check to see what your tuning is. You can do this using a tone generator app for your phone. Play tones through your subs at a moderate volume level. Change the tone up and down in frequency while watching the cones. The frequency where they move the least is your tuning frequency. Wasteland_Audio Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 how much bracing does your box have? and if it is braced make sure one of your braces didn't come loose at one end and is rattling against an inside panel.

_paralyzed_ Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 Take the subs out and play them. If the mechanical noise is gone it's not the woofers.Are you sure the sound is coming from the subs? You're moving a lot of air, you could be rattling your vehicle apart.
