feathered1iron
Hey guys it seems like my problems never stop lol. So I had been having voltage drop issues that caused my inline breaker to my battery to trip all the time when playing heavy bass songs. I did not have the Mechman installed at the time or the Big 3. Shop A(we will call them) had installed 2 RF t1d412s in a ported mid gate and a RF t1500. Nothing crazy by ANY means. They told me that the voltage drop/dimming was due to me needing a HO alt. So I order a Mechman 370 and by time the alt comes in they go out of business (although they did what appeared to be clean installs, they changed ownerships and became a 4x4 shop) Now, fast forward. I find out about shop B. They have great reviews and have done some custom work. They installed my Mechman and big 3. Alt is charging great at 14+ and amp is fine according to the meter they put on it and what they said (they tested in front of me) Now since they installed the Alt and Big 3 (which was today) it is dimming the headlights which are stock and the interior lights BADLY, EVEN WORSE than before. I have a stock battery for what that matters. My truck is an 05 escalade and it does have considerable rust on the chassis ect. The guys didn't have time to look over the entire truck as they were closing but they seem to think it could be a bad ground with corrosion possibly that the previous shop missed and didn't sand. Any ideas? I am taking it back Monday for the to go through the entire thing. Its just really frustrating and hopefully you guys can help. ToNasty
How you you have your big 3 done? If it's how I think you did it, get ready for high charging ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
gckless
Whoa, no mo Mechman alts? But the 370A has a real steep curve, so doesn't do a whole lot at idle speeds. Do you still get the same if your engine RPMs are up at 2k or so? Also, don't judge things by light dimming. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. ToNasty
Do agree with gil. Larger alts do less at idle ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
feathered1iron
ToNasty- I think they added the 0 gauge, and kept the factory remaining. I will check to be sure though. gckless- I really only tested it at idle Current Setup: Mechman 370a Alt 4 pin DC Triple Alt Bracket XS3400 Battery 4 Ampere 6.5 components 4 tweets Ampere 150.4 way Norcal SS Custom 3/5 Lowering Kit with 3inch Lower Control Arms DG Roll Pan LED License Plate Lights
ToNasty
But did you run the ground through the battery current sensor when doing the big 3? And I recommend adding an xs s3 400 under the hood ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
feathered1iron
ToNasty-I will find out. Can you explain what it looks like so I can check? ToNasty
It's a box/ring the oem ground does through. Should be right next to the battery ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers

ToNasty
The battery will help the dimming. I ran a saz1500 on stock wiring with a single 3400. Minimal dimming ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
