meade916
first actual progress video. Stay tuned for paint, LED's, logo's etc! First of all much respect for you, to you and what you've done for the industry... I noticed in the video that you didn't drill the holes for the sub all the way through for the threaded inserts, but for the plexiglass insert you did... Is there a specific reasoning behind that?? Also, do you use a particular brand or just any soft wood threaded insert?? Thanks!! actually i did drill all the way through on both. But for no particular reason other than the window frame is a lot thinner than the subwoofer mounting baffle. 1 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
I could have easily carved this logo onto the acrylic with the CNC but i decided to use my old trusty way of doing it. Frosty Vinyl lights up just as good as any etching so i don't mind doing it. I use black spray paint on the back side of the acrylic to try to hide the LED light source. It is almost impossible to completely hide the actual LED's but i do my best to make them not so obvious. I decided against a traditional round over bit. I used a 45 on everything instead. This trim panel should hide everything real nice Time for some white paint. I had my buddy Jay from next door drag over his spray gun and some white single stage paint. The inside HAS to be white (finished) before i can do any testing or listen to it. Once this acrylic goes on i don't plan on taking it off again. So i have to paint and seal it up now before i get to hook it up. 2 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Verdict: I don't know yet! It sounds pretty good so far but the van is worthless to test with. It just rattles like CRAZY!! Maybe next week me and Antheny will drop it in his Yukon and see how it does. Also, i think i crushed some of the LED's when i bolted the lid down which made the logo not light up the way it is supposed to. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....oh well if it ain't something, it's another thing. lol. 1 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Update #2 - i got it playing! Not too bad for a test box but my van rattles WAYYY to much. Might try to put it in my sons Yukon this week. Only problem is he only has 1000w on hand for it. I don't plan on ripping his entire system apart just for this...but i will see how she acts on 1k at least (in a vehicle that isn't a tin-can) 5 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! 79 cutty
Amazing how deceiving that sub makes that box look relatively "normal" in size, then you slap it in the back of the van and see just how damn big it is!!! Lol 2 Quote Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it.
