Hey guys,

I had a custom box built for my gmc sierra 2500hd and have 2 Sundown SA-8's, ported to 35hz. I am looking at either an execution audio EA 1500.1 or the DB Drive A7 2000 to power them. I can get the execution audio for $220 and the db drive a7 for $270. Which of these would you all go with for the sundowns. I know the EA1000 by Execution audio has been dyno tested and did excellent. The 1500 should be excellent too and underrated. The A7 line of DB Drive I have seen work well, even in an enclosed with glass amp case, they never overheated and were on and in use near an entire car show. I don't like any of the other line from DB Drive amps except the A7. Which do you all think would be better? Or any other amp suggestions? Also what about these prices, they seem alright? I think they are priced right.

what';s your budget and what kind of power are you looking for? at what impedance?

they are dual 4 subs and I'm wiring them down to run a 1 ohm monoblock. 200-400 budget.

with that budget you can get

2 x american bass ph4000md, wire each sub to 1 ohm, keep the gains low and have plenty of headroom.

1 x DC audio 1.2K

2 x Brutus BRX1516.1D

1 x RF Punch P1000X1BD

1 x Cadence Olympia (I havent heard this amp personally, but I imagine it's decent)

I'm assuming the 500watts rms is really underrated. But play within reason, don't gain up the 2 ABs or Brutus' and think that each 8 can take 2k.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. BMWKING I really like that American Bass. Do you think one would be sufficient. The SA 8'S V3 are rated at 600rms. I have seen them take 1250 each. I was looking to give them like 750-1000 watts each. Can I get away with an American Bass since its 2000watts rms @ 1 ohm. Each sub would get 1000watts rms.

What do you think?

I have that amp running 2 AB XFL1244s and it's definitely giving them a workout. It's been tested and shown to do rated (which is awesome for such a little amp). I think you'd be very happy with it. And if you decide it just isn't enough oomph, you can always pick up another one and put one on each :)

What benefit do you expect by over powering them so much? At some point you lose any benefit and just shorten the life of a sub especially one with a 2" coil. Not saying you can't do it or that it won't work, just curious what you expect. There won't be a huge audible difference going from 1500 to 2000 watts but there could a considerable stress difference on the sub.

BMWKing, I am liking that American Bass amp more and more after reading reviews and reading the amp test I found on it. One thing everyone says it is is power hungry. I don't have the big 3 installed, but I have a diesel truck and it has a large alternator and 2 batteries already. Will this be good for this amp? I have 2/0 welding gauge copper cable also, Can I use this or stick to 4 gauge as it calls for.
