jeep187 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 I have 2 SSa Evil 15s with 4 Stiff Spiders on 2 Crescendo BC5500s in a Hyundai Accent Hatchback Will this 4th Order Wall Design Work? Sealed chamber 3.25 Cubic Feet After Displacement Ported Chamber 6.25 Cubic Feet After Displacement Port 6"wx14"Hx10.25"D Tuned to 45hz (84 Cubic Inch Port Area) Thank you in advance
Triticum Agricolam Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Depends on what you mean by "work". That box will make noise, though it wouldn't be one I'd want to listen to. It also will also be leaving a lot of performance on the table. Whats your motivation for using a bandpass box anyway? Facekicker Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Forget a 4th unless you can stretch that space out considerably 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
jeep187 Posted December 17, 2015 Author Report Posted December 17, 2015 I now have a ported wal 10 cubic feet after displacement The port is 4.5w x 9.25h tuned to 27.5 hz It does a 155 on the glass People are telling me go 4th but thats maximum room i have
Triticum Agricolam Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Those people telling you to go with a bandpass box, those are the people you should ignore. A ported box is almost always going to be the most efficient use of space. So you have a 10 box, on 11k watts, with a 4.5" x 9.25" port? That's the problem right there, you port area is woefully inadequate. You should have four times as much port area, at least. Raising your tuning would probably let you put up bigger numbers too, but at the expense of some low end performance. ETA: I just remembered, you posted about this box before. What frequency did your system peak at? "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:
Smoove Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Jeep187I run a similar sub. You need at least 130sqin of port. And if you wanna bring your score up. try tuning higher. And what do you really care about, having wind tunnel lows or having a higher score? 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/
Hugh G. Rection Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Bandpass is not some "magic" box. A well designed, tested, and tuned ported system will give all the performance that could be desired out of the given equipment. Owner of BigAss Ports
