I've been reading on crossover slopes for a while and am still confused. So let's say I have my sub crossed at 80hz. What happens when I do 80hz@6db or 12db or 18db or 24db.what would you recommend for subs? I don't want phase issues or have to reverse speaker polarity I just want to know which of these would be the normal so to say.

simple way to understand it. if you have a low pass filter crossed at 80 hz it will still play frequencies above that just at a lower "volume" the further you get from that number till it gets to 0. the higher the slope number is the sooner it gets to 0. so a 6db/1st order will play all the way to 150 hz, 12db/2nd order will play all the way to 125 hz, 18db/3rd order will play all the way to 100 hz, 24db/4th order will play all the way to 90 hz, etc.... not exact, it's a bit more but that a good summary to get an understanding.

if nothing changes, nothing changes

You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
