rhaas Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 Hey guys, I plan on buying a Sundown Audio X-8 for my car. However, due to my limited space and that, I must put this subwoofer in a sealed box. What should the dimensions be when I build it. Sundown says the enclosure should be tuned down to 32hz. Thanks for any suggestions!!
Triticum Agricolam Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 Sundown doesn't recommend those subs be used in a sealed box, and for good reason. You are not going to get good performance out of a sealed box with that sub. Joe X Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 Post what's your vehicle, amp and max dims for a box, from there one can know what can fit and what can't.

DO NOT run the X-8 sealed. - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - Please DO NOT PM ME -- use my email address -- [email protected]
rhaas Posted December 23, 2015 Author Report Posted December 23, 2015 So then what dimensions should I use to make a ported box. Whats the best box that offers me the most space saving available. Any pictures or CAD showing dimensions of the box would be great! thanks!
Triticum Agricolam Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 There is an infinite number of potential dimensions that could be used. As long as the box is .75 - 1 cubes tuned to 32~ Hz with 16~ sq in of port area, it should work great. How about you tell us what the max dimensions of your space are and we can go from there?
