keith
Hi everyone i am trying to figure out, will a mechman 250 amp alt be good enough for a 4400 watt system. Will be running a d 3100 in the rear and a d3400 up front xspower of course. Amps are 2 RF bdcp1500s ran at 2ohms and a 1000 watt rms highs amp so I will be looking at around 4400 watts maybe 4000. Thanks a head of time for any help that is available thinking of running sky high 2/0 or just their 0 gauge wire.

Clownrock95
I was told 2/0 isn't worth it unless you are already running 3 or more runs

keith
Ok I have 1 d3400 for the front, do you think that instead of the d3100 I could just use another d3400 and one run of 0 to the back instead of the 2/0.

MotorCityFats13
at $1.00 more a foot, how many feet are you going to be running because you can either do 1/0 and if its not to your satisfaction do another run..... good plan with an expensive backup plan... or run 2/0 spend what at-least another $20+ but know you have all your bases and future upgradability covered.... since there is no such thing in the car audio world as over kill... lol..... only downside I really see is 2/0 is like trying to feed a field mouse a jumbo hotdog.... make sure you have the room to pass that shit through..... i am not even close to running the quality gear or power as you but I love SHCA CCA and from what I read its perfect for non-competition daily builds where cost is an issue
DubNDodge
You only have 250A of charging, which is even under the capacity of the 1/0 OFC wire. So 2/0 would be overkill. The 250A alt, D3400 and D3100 *should* be enough for that system. I wouldn't think you'd drop any lower than 13v. hdorre
my 230A alt held high 13s on my numerous ~4200 watt setups, and low 13s at idle.
