Chop mat is going to create stiffer (less flexible) but weaker parts, and is easier to get good results with. Woven cloth will result in stronger parts if done correctly (but this means you need proper strand orientation, which requires a few layers, and correct amounts of resin) So basically unless you want to get real serious chop mat will be a lot moe forgiving and yield more structurally sound parts. If it's apples to apples on weight, strength should be about the same. PERFECT! plus I would like to try something different to see if it works better for me... CleanSierra Posted January 25, 2016 Report Share Posted January 25, 2016 I use solarez ... pretty bad ass stuff! no complaints as far as that, just dont like the inconvenience of the mat.. I use 1.5 oz myself, but found 4oz 4hs fiberglass cloth for a good price also that is supposed to conform to curves (even though i would cut V's in the material to get it to curve) I've never used the UV resins so I have no idea how they layup.
