Efficenicy or speced design,let's think outside the box?...

Just wondering have you ever thought of thinking outside the box when given specs.for an enclosure/woofer,with sealed or ported designs?or to maybe make it more efficient by design?,of course woofer specs.into play,to be louder?Hence create a design that requires less power and less subs to create the sound pressure level and sound?
