Aztahoe99 Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Went down to the audio shop other day to get some thicker guage spraker wire for my subs rather than the door speaker wire i had in th e garage. They were closing so i just picked up a prepacked 25ft pack instead of making the lady go in the back measure and cut.off the spool. They sold me the black and white wire wich is silver looki mg but looks to be thicker than this blue speaker wire wich came in an install kit i didnt know i even ordered. But the blue wire looks copper. Both say 12ga which would u guys use

If you have a digital multimeter, figure out which one has the least amount of resistance and use that. Don't trust a shop but you personally just smoked two decks, makes sense. 03' Trailblazer LTDayton Designer 6.5"s & Silkie tweetersDayton Audio Ultimax 18"Pioneer 9601 & 8604XS Power D34002 runs 1/0Singer 250
Aztahoe99 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Thx bud how would i test the resistance what setting on my multimeter
Aztahoe99 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Thx guys the silber looking stuff had 4.8 copper at 5.4 usin the bigger looking wire with least amount of resisramce. Nother question. Im doing 4 subs 2 ohm dvc wiring series parallel to 1 ohm final load. I have a diagram that shows me how but it has it all connected and just one positi e and one neg going to the amp. My mono amp has dual pos and dual neg. Km assuming inside the amp its all ghe same should i use one connwction for all foir or two for each pair of subs.?
reedal Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Whichever makes the wiring job easiest for you. Two connections to the amp uses more wire than one SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
Aztahoe99 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Right on i didnt know if there was a theory behind certain amount of watts through speaker wire
MotorCityFats13 Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 if you use both connections on the amp you will use more wire but said wires will carry less wattage per run than making all the power flow down 1 path of wire.... depending on how long the wire is and what gauge can have a parasitic loss, there are online calcs to figure out such math on current through wires..... depending on what your system has and power demands/output this difference may be negligible.... IE 25watts
reedal Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Depending on how much power you're pushing, more wire will be better and reduce loss between the amp and subs. How much power are you running to the subs? Edit: ^^ beat me to it SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
