Will my alt push it?

Recommended Posts

So, after searching mazda forums and the interwebs, a single 170A alt...IS $600 WHAT?!?!?!? I'm not spending THAT much on an alt! Maybe if I was into comps, but for my daily setup? FUCK THAT!

Now what? Can I or can't I run 1kw? I'm learning that there isn't much of an audible difference between 500w and 1000w...so if it's not worth it I'll go with 500w, and beat the hell out of one 12 as best I can with 500w.

There will be a definitive difference between 500w and 1000w. If it was the difference between 7000w and 7500w, no, probably nothing really noticeable.

From what I understand, it's around a 3dB increase....so, if that's the case, it's not worth the $600 for an alt that will push 1000w, or 3dB.

No, that is a THEORETICAL number.

And an alt isn't 600 for your mazda...

$600 is still cheaper than 2 batteries amp replacements and alternator for every time it burns out because you cant provide the power it needs.. less amperage makes the amp run hotter.. low voltage = clipping= burnt subs.. you do the math and figure out whats cheaper a $600 alternator or the equipment you have to replace

Um...so....what? Lol

I haven't found a HO alt for my car that's anywhere near being cheap....under $300.

What would I need to run a 1kw? 120A? Lots of stuff here, lots of confusion lol thanks thoug

We'll allocate 50a for vehicle functions.

IMO, a minimum of 183.3A cold rating at idle. Email all the big companies and get quotes.

Don't trust a shop but you personally just smoked two decks, makes sense.
