i see thank you, going to do some more comparing still would like some suggestions of sub woofers i may not have heard of. and what about vas the stiffness of the suspension what does it mean about the response.

SSA, all their shit is legit. I personally have an evil on the way. Same build house of Fi. Plus they have some sort of deal going on, and a free Tshirt when you buy a sub. I couldn't complain.

well i would like the subwoofer to be efficient and that is all i have to go off of even if it is at 1khz and it doesn't directly relate to efficiency at lower frequencies.

The sensitivity measurement really is meaningless for car audio subwoofers, for a numbers of reasons.

Suspension stiffness is measured by CMS or Vas, smaller numbers = stiffer suspension.

Generally speaking, subs with stiffer suspensions will have lower efficiency, not because of the stiff suspension but because of the heavy cone/coil that requires a stiff suspension. They also tend to have higher power handling, which is why the coils/cone are so heavy.

Subs with stiff suspensions also tend to be more peaky in nature.

ok, so bl is a better way to consider the probable efficiency, but doesn't directly relate ( and higher value is better correct).

BL by itself is meaningless because it changes with the resistance of the coils or how the coils are wired. You can't just compare the BL between subs because most subs have differences in coil resistance. If you want to make a fair comparison you need to square the BL number and then divide that by the Re (coil resistance) of the sub. So BL x BL / Re = motor force factor, which you can use to compare subs.

ok doing some reading on the parameters. heard of the ssa what about the stereo integrity hst12 in a large ported box instead of the recommended small sealed.
