BMS Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 thanks, Triticum Agricolam that was very useful about the force factor.
3vil Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Let's back this up like 3 steps. What vehicle are you building and what are your goals
ChevyBoy95 Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 ok, so bl is a better way to consider the probable efficiency ( and higher is better correct). BL by itself is meaningless because it changes with the resistance of the coils or how the coils are wired. You can't just compare the BL between subs because most subs have differences in coil resistance. If you want to make a fair comparison you need to square the BL number and then divide that by the Re (coil resistance) of the sub. So BL x BL / Re = motor force factor, which you can use to compare subs. That's how the b2 XM's are listed. BL^2/Re Best Score to Date : 160.5 dB Outlaw (47Hz)[4 XM 15's & 2 Taramps Bass 12k's] BL : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147800-chevyboy95s-4-15s-7krms-wall-1533-db-on-half-power/YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hitemwiththeflex/
BMS Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 I want to feel and hear but mostly feel the bass in the low 30's and 20 hz range. i'm building it in a Pontiac grand am. i want a system that is built to pound for about 15 minute periods.

The way the system plays with authority is mostly a box design/ vehicle cabin issue. The subs wont be a massive factor that swings your bandwidth around in large amounts. Playing for 15 minute periods means you have stout electrical to back you amplifiers, along with amplifiers which are not reaching their own thermal limits or the woofers thermal limits while making/taking power for 15 minutes. Triticum Agricolam Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 That's how the b2 XM's are listed. BL^2/Re After you mentioned this I went and looked on their site. That's really nice they list the motor force this way, I wish other manufacturers would do that. Its the only way to make an apples to apples comparison.
