Be gentle I have a single SA-10 I'm looking to transplant into my car. The trick is that I am only going to do it by making a custom triangle box to fit way to the back of the trunk against the back seats. I'm not looking to win any kind of competitions here, I just want to increase the bump in my daily, while still sounding nice, without eating all the trunk space and such. This will be powered by a small amp that will run them at roughly their rated RMS... so not a lot basically If the dimensions of the box were: Depth one (top): 6.5 in Depth two: 12 in Height:15 in Width: 31.5 in Using half inch wood, the calculations I came up with should get me to the required cubes according to sundown's specs, with a bit more to spare even after displacement. So here come the questions where I show how not knowledgeable i am. If my idea/goal were to have the box ported to the suggested 35hz range with some sort of front facing circular aero port, could that be done in a box that compact? If so, how? (what size diameter? is there some sort of PVC runners in the box? Anyone fancy enough to MS paint the specs or something and spell it out for me lol? Or do I punch some "x" hole in it and stick a fancy circular flare in it?) Oooor in your opinion do you think it would sound decent if I just left it sealed in those dimensions? Like I said... ckeeler11 Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 1-5" aero port would need to be 27.4" long would require a bend if you wanted it in the front baffle. might have the ability to port out the side with no bends as long as you do not have it pushed against the trunk wall. 1-4" aero port would need to be 17" long but would have high port velocities at rated power which could produce port noise..
b00sted4banger Posted March 27, 2016 Author Report Posted March 27, 2016 Out the side is not doable because it will be against the trunk wall. Sounds like a 5" might be possible since the overall width of the enclosure is about 31 inches. Would have to see about clearing the sub internally

3vil Posted March 27, 2016 Report Posted March 27, 2016 We're talking about the area of circles here with aero ports. 2x3in aero ports is about 14.14in², one 6in aero port is 28.27in² or roughly twice as large. Probably going to get port compression and maybe noise with the dual 3" ports, but I'll let someone with more experience jump in on the subject.

Appreciate the help for all who have chimed in thus far Well like 3vil said, two 3" ports is less area than one 5" port. Three 3" ports would be enough port area, but once you have to use more than two aeroports all of their efficiency advantages compared to a slot port are gone. So based on what you want to do you need about a 20 sq in slot port. The nice thing about slot ports is you can wrap them around the inside of the box to get the length you need and they can be a little shorter than would an equivalent area round port would be due to the inside of the box making the port perform like its a little longer than it really is. You should have the space to do what you want to do. With triangle shaped boxes like what you are wanting to do I like to run the port along the top of the box and fire out the side. Since you can't fire out the side you could still run it along the top of the box and then have it fire out the front. Wouldn't be an ideal situation, but I think it would work about as well as anything given your space constraints. There is probably other ways to do it too and maybe someone will have a better suggestion, but it at least gives you a starting point. Be gentle. But I do appreciate the help in advance. Thanks! The box you've described is 2.5 cubic feet. Not only is it possible, I'd say the box is too big! If it were me I'd make a tapped horn, but if that's too complex, just run the port along the width of the box. The box is 31.5" wide; you should have plenty of space.
