P33BL3S Posted March 27, 2016 Report Posted March 27, 2016 Hello everybody, i was a member of this forum quite some time ago and have now returned. my newest project is my newly aquired (8 months ago) F150. i will post up some pictures when i can. i plan on using gear i already have and plan on getting a bigger alternator and a deep cycle battery when funds clear up. Here is what im working with so far. TRUCK: Ford F150 Lariat Super Crew Cab 5.4 v3 4x4 Pretty much fully loaded All factory audio with factory sub under seat. 230,000 kms HEADUNIT: Kenwood DDX770 double din SPEAKERS: Infinity Kappa 60.9 Front and Rear (2 ohm version) Subs: 3- 8" JL Audio W7 (box will be in the middle of the rear seats) AMPS: AUDIOQUE 2200 for the subs Kicker zx340.4 or Soundqubed 120.4 haven't decided yet if i have the balls to run double the power to the kappas yet. WIRE/SIGNAL CABLES: Knuconceptz 4 Gauge 4 Channel wiring kit (pulled from my old truck) 2/0 Welding cable (fused with sky high fuse block and fuses) Audison RCA Cables for the sub amp Speaker wire will most likley be PICO OFC 14 Gauge ( why pico? becasue i get 100' roll for like $30 canadian my cost through work) EXTRA CRAP: Scorpion volt meter PAC steering wheel control interface Metra dash and wiring adapter I am open to suggestions and ideas on what else to do or what to do different. the only thing set in stone is i want to use all 3 8's because i have had them for years and have yet to use them. I also have a set of 5.25 cresendos and a set of SQ 6.5 components i may use but i liked the kappas better. they were alot louder. If anybody has done a similuar set up i would like to hear/see picture. i have built a few systems for friends and in every vehicle i owned but i want to take my time with this one. Im also walling off a car in my garage right now for a buddy, but have been taking it easy due to no money and not able to lift over 50 lbs or bent over for long periods of time. I suffered from a back injury that caused me to loose almost $10k in pay last year and caused me to have to switch career paths. I was a mechanic loved my job (except a co-worker that made my job a living hell when i returned to work) now i sell parts lol. But i have been back at work for about 2 months and feel very energetic to get this done. I do have a few questions maybe someone can help me with, first off for running my speaker wire i was told i had to drill out the moltex clips in the doors to get speaker wire through. ( did on my old car took me 3 days to run all my wiring and everything) I wanted to know if i got the factory clip off and unpinned the factory speakers and just pinned my speaker wire would it work with the power ill be running? Also for amp placement i was hoping to get them under the rear seats would it be better to stack them with fans of just run one on each side? Last question would be the sub box, Is it true the more power you run the smaller the box you need? My subs are rated at 500 rms at 3 ohms with all 3 final load is 1 ohm. My AQ pushes 2200+ at ohm. I do have a DD-1 to tune them. Thanks in advance for any help and i wont get butt hurt if you think i should do something differently. I can handle constructive criticism
P33BL3S Posted March 27, 2016 Author Report Posted March 27, 2016 Now for the Gear photos, Sorry the pictures is all i have on hand. The Subs, How i aquired the subs (doubt anybody cares but..) There was a guy local to me selling 2 RE Audio MR 12s 2 Exterminator 3000 amps ( made by RE) A 5 Farrad Tsunami Cap. The audio place that installed it dropped a woofer they wouldnt replace it because it was discontinued. so i meet up with the guy he wanted $800 for the subs. i got him down to $250 for all of it. sold one of the amps for $100, the other was blown because the shop hooked eveeything up wrong and literally burnt the inside mosfets and it got so hot the power wires burnt to the sub box. gave away the other amp, traded the got MR for 2 of the W7s. i also sold the boxes for $45. so lets just say i paid $100 for 2 w7 8's. thee third one i aquired off my local classfieds, the guy had it posted for $150 with a box, well after talking to the guy i told him guys sell them used for around 350-300 here. He then began to tell me it was damaged, i asked what happened and for pictures. turns out a mouse family moved into the cone and chewed the surround. i decided i wanted to see the sub. after talking to the guy he said $50 its yours so i took it home. the other 2 showed a few wear marks on the surrounds so i ordered 33 new foam surround kits, cost me $90 with extchange and shipping. $100+$50+$90= $240 for all 3. good deal right? as you can see in the pictures i had to repair a bit of the cone one the one and the motor is a little discoloured. dont matter to me i wont ever see it in the box. as for the repair, its annoys me to no end but what can you do? i thought about wrapping the subs so i wouldnt see it but im an honest guy and if i were to sell them i would like the buyer to be aware. The Amps. The AQ 2200 i bought used for $300 the guy drove 2 hours to my house, muchly appriciated. the Kicker was a sketchy deal. dude ripped it out of a truck he was getting impounded for drug trafficing. annd the SQ 120.4 i bought new from SQ with their 6.5 component bundle. posted here are my kappas aswell. this is the deck, this picture was taken last may we had a crazy storm blizzarding like crazy, the power went out so i started up the car and watched 2 fast 2 furious and kept warm. this is the volt meter i bought 3 years ago and never used. lol

P33BL3S Posted March 28, 2016 Author Report Posted March 28, 2016 so i got the dash kit attached to the deck, wired up my harness. but i have a question about the PAC steer wheel control. The website and instructions say to wire the white wire to the #18 plug, well the 18 plug ends at the metra dash harness. But i noticed my deck has a steering wheel control line out could i use that? anybody with experience help me out? pictures included..
