My system sounds different since transplanting

should have said in some cases because my corolla sounded the same going to a grand prix. But in this case from a small cab to a open SUV, I would have expect it to change.

Hey thanks for all the replies guys, I'll try sliding the box closer to the lift gate. Well see how that goes and then probably build a different box to kicker specs if I'm still not satisfied. I'll measure the box and ports and let you guys know, maybe somebody could tell me what the box is tuned to. And then I'll have to figure out what the actual cabin peaks at, and make my adjustments from there. I would download Torres but I don't have a computer and my phone doesn't have enough memory space lately, gotta lotta pictures I need to get printed off

Iv had this system for almost 2 yrs btw, and iv been thinking about maybe upgrading to something different. (Once I have the budget, I now have a daughter) Like a 18. Iv never heard or even seen one or known anyone who's had one. My " plan", more like a daydream, would be to keep the zx1500. So anyway, that's that. Opinions?

i have never been in the same room as an 18... but if you need one with lower power I would suggest something like a DC level 3 or 4 18" ..... 900rms and 1400rms but still wants 5.5cuft ported not too bad for a mid sized suv get a dual 4ohm and either sub should be happy with that amp

Haha well, I saw just the cone of an 18 in a display case at a car audio shop in my city. But that's it. I was checking out the dc lvl 3 on sonicelectronix for 330ish. That's probably the one I'll get, eventually when I can splurge on a toy. Hopefully before summer hits. I just want something uncommon. Everybody has 2 12s it seems.

Hey fellas, Iv got my subs slid back around that 6-9" from my tailgate recommomendation, I dunno, it seems a little louder but still not satisfied. It's kinda gotta weird resonation set up that way too. And rich schenk I actually happened to read through your build a little bit the other day, didn't make it all the way through it yet but it seemed like some real high level shit going on. I like how you include your kids in it too man that's cool as hell I'm hoping to get my baby girl into it too eventually. But anyway, I was curious about how proportioning the port dimensions effects the sound/response/tuning. I really like the look of boxes that have a single wide ass narrow port/vent, whatever you wanna call it, that runs the entire or most of the width of the box. Iv read up on it here and there but I'm just not real clear about it. Maybe somebody can get me a good reference who can break it down for me in the simplest terms.

Ok, so I measured up my pre fabbed box. 1.56 cu ft per chamber (net w/o sub displacement). Vent is 14" tall x 1.5" wide x 24" long (measured roughly down the center line) I'm just curious what the actual tuned frequency of the box is so I have a reference point to develope the sound the way I want it when I build a new box.

Does this box have a port on each side of is it one shared port in the middle?
