system to play music

I want to build my next system to play music. A few guys I talked to told me that it will be hard to build a system to play music with 10k watts on hand. And that it will be easier to build a system like that with on lower power. I know "SWIFT" built his system to play music and he had 14k watts on hand so I know it's possible. I just don't know where to start and was hoping for help from you guys

Maybe define what you mean by "play music"? There's plenty of systems with high power that sound clean and well BALANCED. But everyone knows the guy with 2000 watts on sub stage and factory mids and highs. I think it is what YOU want. Mids and highs are way more efficient than subwoofers but you don't want 10000 watts to subs and 400 to mids and highs. Also let people know what your equipment list is (or wish list) and what vehicle you're putting them into. More info the better

EQ can fix a LOT of peaky bass problems and really smooth out your frequency response. Its cheap too, a MiniDSP is just over $100 and is a TREMENDOUSLY powerful tool. EQ will cost you some output though. Everything comes at a price.

I believe steves truck is pushing well over 30k and no complaints there but it comes at a price when just your substage is 20kw

Well for starters my equipment list is two Ampere 5k's two Ampere 150.4 and four sets of ampere comps I just sold my Trident 15's so I'm in the process of looking for some better suited subs for my application. I have about 8.8 cubes before all displacements and their going in the trunk of a 1988 Monte Carlo ss

my experience with big power on a couple big subs for daily setup heat usually limits ur time to play at full tilt. if you want to run big power i think its best to use several smaller subs to spread the heat from the power out in the coils

instead of 10 k on 2 18s, go with 8 10s or something

Sorry masterbasser i dont have the same experience as you, IMO ur given statement of [2] 18" on 10k would produce LESS heat then [8] 10" subs on same 10k power.

OP if you wanna run 5,7,10k for daily set up its not a problem. You just need to set a feasible budget (thousands of dollars) for one or two HO alts, multiple batteries. Find out your total space availble for your sub box.

IMO a few 12" subs on 3k for sub stage and some good speaker componets on an amp will get you what ur looking for on a daily set up....

i see what he is saying... 2 subs on 10k might be overpowering them and get really loud but 10 subs on 10k would be giving them rated power or less be louder and be able to play way longer before heat becomes an issue.... i think of it like this....2 5000rms subs getting 10k or 10 2000rms subs getting 10k the 10 should never be stressed enough to melt down and be louder
