Floyd341 Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Ok, I have all this fancy equipment. And this single cab truck sounds like it's gonna vibrate apart. Things just don't sound right. Custom Console box withSubs down firing 2 JL Audio 12W3's 1000 JL Amp Kenwood DDX23BT Radio 2 Quinn 6.5 Coaxials The radio has TONS of settings. Things sound all out of whack, I don't think the shop I took it to to have everything done tuned shit. Kinda done with them really. Anyone know anything about the DDX23BT and can tell me what or where everything needs to be set at? I've been playing around with it, but I want to ensure shit is 100%. I got 2K in this right now, and I want it to sound right. I have a lil single cab 84, I understand there is gonna be ALOT of vibration, but it's more than I expected honestly. And all anyone wants to do now is sell 1000 worth of dynamat. Let me know where everything needs to be set. Maybe some of you have personal experience with this radio. Maybe someone can do it over the phone and help? Please help...
3vil Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 You have 12x 12" subs and you think your truck rattles too much? I really hope that was a typo.
Floyd341 Posted April 2, 2016 Author Report Posted April 2, 2016 Lmao, yes that's a typo. I have 2, I'll correct it. Sorry bout that.
3vil Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Can you isolate the rattle(s) to any specific area? Like say: my dashboard vibrates a lot when the bass hits, or my rear windows make a lot of noise when you're outside the truck. Sound deadening is never a bad idea, but if you're just dealing with rattles there are ways to fix them. Or just turn the volume down.
Floyd341 Posted April 2, 2016 Author Report Posted April 2, 2016 Door panels rattle/vibrate which is probably the worst spot. Seems like vibration is coming from the custom box as well. Box is also bolted to the cab. With volume way up it hits HARD but at the same time to me sounds like shit. I'm sure I can fix the door panel problems. I want to ensure the all my Audio settings, loudness, bass boost, equalizer, driver settings are all set properly.
Floyd341 Posted April 2, 2016 Author Report Posted April 2, 2016 So, I can fix the rattling. Vibration isn't going anywhere unless I add Dynamat in both doors, floorboard, and behind seats? Settings, and ensuring everything is tuned properly is my goal on this topic I suppose.
3vil Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Rattles come from panel resonance. That's not to say that your stereo is improperly tuned, only someone who has the correct equipment and time with your truck could answer that. But anything that rattles can be fixed. Start with the box, play a song that makes it rattle, then press on the top and sides to see if it goes away. If it does, it needs bracing or was just built poorly. If you can hold the door panels down the vibration goes away you can deaden and/or isolate the panel to stop it.
MotorCityFats13 Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 its frowned upon by the hardcore members but youtube can direct you to some cheap non-audio designed deadening products that work very well when you want to save tons of money i did my doors with 1 of these products for less than $35 and its night and day
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Its hard to tell you how to set all the settings because I can't hear it from here. lol As with anything, less is more. To start with, set everything flat no boost or eq. Then slowly adjust one thing at a time to see what it does. The gain should ideally be setup with a DD-1. Either buy one or find someone in your area to help. You won't be able to set it by ear correctly without it. Until then go easy on it. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
GorillaFIngeRs Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Set your EQ to flat. Low pass to 100 -6db if you have that option. Turn the sub output on the head unit way down. Turn your stereo to the volume you like to get up to when you're head noddin. And slowly turn up the sub til you like the way it sounds. Or take the box out and listen to it outside of the car and see if everything is copastetic with it. Might be a bitch to unbolt but if it's messed up its coming out anyway.
