Brad Majors
Okay guys I just installed my new Mechman 240 amp alternator onto my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I installed I did put on a new gates green stripe belt 3/4 inch smaller to insure no slippage. Anywho to the problem. At idle its showing 13.8v by my DMM and reving to 2grand showing 13.9 to 14. so thought i would test the system to watch drop and plugged right into my amp with my DMM and let it rip .... going to to 12.1v ...... ..... I do have the big 3 and I am running the normal 1000cca battery upfront and have a optima yellow top secondary right before amp. Test voltage at first battery 13.8 second battery 13.65 ish ... anyone have any input here as to why its not putting out over 14v at the alt ... Thanks guys. Brad Majors
bump .... could this be partially due to my stock neverstart 1000cca battery up front?
Skullz
I was going to do this on my 95 dodge neon, but never got around to it. I don't know if it would be the same as yours, but i would look into an external regulator wiring diagram if your able to locate one. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
