Nightshade
So I just picked up a new car for myself. My 2013 Scion TC was totaled in a recent accident with a jerkoff who ran a red light. I had to find something quick and ended up getting a particular car I have had my eye on for a while. I decided to go with a 2013 VW Jetta GLI Autobahn edition, 4 cylinder Turbo. The car was certified through the local VW dealer and is in fantastic condition. The previous owner took great care of the car and I got it with right at 36K miles on it to go along with a 2 year certified warranty. The stock specs on the car are 200whp and 207lbft of torque to go along with a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds. From what I have read online real world dyno numbers show that the car is around 221whp and 223lbft of torque. The car is very quick and practical. I am considering a stage 1 tune that would bump the numbers up to 261hp and 317lbft. Anyway on to the audio. The car already comes with a phenomenal premium sound upgrade. It is a Fender premium sound system with a 6.5" component set in each of the 4 doors. There is also an 8" subwoofer in a 0.6cuft enclosure in the trunk. The amplifier that is in the car is a 10 channel beast. Eight of the channels run the doors and the final two channels run a coil each on the subwoofer. I don't plan to replace any of the front stage at all as the Fender equipment sounds very good and has enough power that if I did replace anything it would probably just be the front component set. I honestly never thought that a factory premium sound system could sound so good in a car. The bass actually is very loud and the car needs some deadener as is to keep vibrations down. So what I am going to be running in the car is as follows: 1 Sundown Audio Dual 1 ohm X15" subwoofer with Nightshade V3 coils 1 Sundown Audio SVC2000D amplifier at .5 ohms Stock 140 amp alternator (until I can afford a $700 aftermarket replacement, the high output alts for this car are fucking expensive) Stock 61 aH battery 1XS Power D3400 1 Audio Control LC6I Knu Konceptz Fleks cable Knu Konceptz Kno Knoise sound deadener Kicker K Series RCA cables Xscorpion ANL fuse holder Audible Engineering 8" Aeroport The enclosure I am going with will be 4.25 cubes after displacement with a single 8" aeroport. The sub will fire back towards the trunk lid and port will be side firing toward the drivers side of the vehicle. If anyone has any experience with this car and has a better suggestion I am open to listen. It has been almost 10 years since I have done a trunk build and I am honestly intimidated in actually trying to get this thing loud. I see no reason that I can't do in the 145-148 dB range with what I am going to be running, but it's a daily build going to be tuned to 34 Hz so I am not concerned about numbers other than for a reference point. Anyway on to the pics of the car, I don't have any of the equipment as of yet but should within the week and the build is projected to finish in about two weeks. The trunk is big enough to do pretty much whatever I want to do in it. I am going to leave open the option of another X15 in the future if I desire to add another one. As of right now the battery and Lc6i will be going into the spare tire well. I really wish that an alternator didn't run $700 or I would just throw one of those in first before adding any batteries. This is the factory 8" subwoofer. It is mounted to the rear deck of the car and actually pounds pretty decent for what it is. I am going to leave it hooked up when I add the X15 unless it ends up adding any interference or sounds fucked up. I plan on using the speaker inputs from here to the Lc6i whether I leave it hooked up or not. This is a beast of a 4cyl engine. It is amazing how much power this little thing makes, while providing a super smooth ride in the process. The nice thing about the alt is that if I do decide to every add one I can do it myself since it is easily accessible. However, the extended warranty that I got with the car covers the alternator if it goes out. I wonder if I could sneak a high output model in its place without the warranty company noticing. I will have pics of the equipment and the beginning of the build here very soon. I am picking up a sheet of birch on Wednesday. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz

Nightshade
I really like the GTI buddy!!! Does is get loud? It seems like it would get pretty loud, but it doesn't have a lot room available for a large setup. It seems like it is a bit smaller than the size I had in my Focus ZX3. It got very loud, but I had to keep the back seats folded down all the time. The nice thing about the GTI is that it is pretty quick and doesn't suffer much at all when you give it some gas. I have a buddy that has a 2002 model and it is not too shabby when it comes to acceleration.
Nightshade
Here are a few pics for now of the equipment. I am getting ready to go out to the car to start running wires and doing a little bit of deadener on the front doors. I will be building the box tomorrow. I plan on putting it in the car with bare wood to see how it sounds before I finish it off with a black stain with clear coat built into it. More pictures to come later today!
