loganberry
i heard the box tuning drops abot 2-3 dbs. Mine was built for 32 HZ with normal application and when inverted, it is now a box tuned at 29-30HZ if i just try it, will it hurt anything?? id like to just try it at least Quote My F-150 Build GET ON THE BANDWAGON what if they tried messing with the amps when the subs werent louder hahah jk
aznboi3644
There is no difference, sound is air. haha 2-3 db's yeah right. Also a speaker exerts the same force in either direction...who told you that most of the pressure comes from the backwave (it mounted normally)

Kicker Guy
The only reason it affects tuning is because there is SLIGHTLY more airspace inside the box when inverted As for logan's question... go ahead and try it if u want... just make sure your surround doesn't rub Quote Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P6000UB Sub Amp:American Bass VFL 500.1 Subs: 4 Fi BL 18's Enclosure:21.5 Cubic foot flat wall tuned to 40 hz Batteries: 3 Kinetik 2400's in the back, Kinetik 1200 under hood. roscoe1129
AND reverse the polarity of the wires! otherwise they will be playing at 180 phase instead of 0! Kicker Guy
You only have to reverse the polarity if you have different mountings.... like 2 inverted and 2 normal.... otherwise they are fighting each other.... if they are all the same it doesn't matter Quote Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P6000UB Sub Amp:American Bass VFL 500.1 Subs: 4 Fi BL 18's Enclosure:21.5 Cubic foot flat wall tuned to 40 hz Batteries: 3 Kinetik 2400's in the back, Kinetik 1200 under hood. roscoe1129
No its not. think about it. its partially correct. If you invert a sub and its still firing normal its going to fire into the box and use the vehicle as the "enclosure" thus making the enclosure entirely to large. This will cause the subs to unload and then your shit outta luck. when you reverse the polarity you are still using the enclosure as the enclosure its just firing backwards over the basket instead of forward from the cone. dr.db
You should also check the cone offset....most speakers are offset a little to the front...now I'm only talking about a few millimeters but that shit makes a difference!!! they are designed to play motor toward the rear...but,try it out!!! The sub moves the same both ways.... it doesn't matter how you do it as long as all cones are moving the same. You are still using the enclosure, just because the motor is out of the box doesn't change anything in regaurds to the box Quote Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P6000UB Sub Amp:American Bass VFL 500.1 Subs: 4 Fi BL 18's Enclosure:21.5 Cubic foot flat wall tuned to 40 hz Batteries: 3 Kinetik 2400's in the back, Kinetik 1200 under hood.
