meade916
I guess i should start this post out by saying "the apple don't fall far from the tree". My son has had his Yukon for a few years now and slowly he is turning it into his own "Tahoe" build . He started out stock of course but pops (me) had some old chrome Oasis 24's up in the rafters which makes for a HELL of a hammy down. They were ugly because the chrome was peeling so he took his money and got brand new Pirelli's and had them shot black. They looked great! Way better! Then recently, Chicken (my friend if you don't know), kicked him down his old 26" Lexani's! Again, nothing brand new here, just hammy downs. The chrome was peeling and only 3 tires were good. Antheny spent a LOT of time helping me on Chicken's rides in the past (since he was a little boy) and especially on the vehicle that had these old rims (the Rezcalade). So they probably went to the best place they possibly could. More meaningful then just a pair of rims. Of course, right away, Antheny got some new tires and had them shot Matte Black to get rid of the chrome and give them new life. Why am i telling you this? because Antheny does not get to go on an SMD shopping spree every day. I do NOT spoil him with gifts such as 24's and 26's...or Yukons for that matter. He graduated high school with EXCELLENT grades, he is a hard worker (runs my entire shop), and is an all around great person. I just HAPPEN to be his dad and i just HAPPEN to have the best hammy downs he could ever ask for. So i definitely ain't the daddy who busts out the checkbook when "spoiled" son wants something. He deserves everything he has...and lets face it, it's a 2002 not a 2016 (Yukon). So that being said, i shall finish the story. He wanted to lower his Yukon BAD, especially after seeing me drop the Escalade last week. So we called my buddy Tony aka Norcall_ss and ordered up a kit. Front: Lower Control Arms, New shocks Rear: Springs, end links, new shocks, "Free travel mod", bump stops, sway bar mod, shock extenders and an adjustable panhard bar. Kit is a 4/6 drop but it is also capable of being 3/5 with the spring spacer. We decided on a 3/5 for now. The truck already sits on a 1" drop from about a year ago when we "leveled" it. But it wasn't enough. So this kit will probably be 2/4 lower than it currently sits but 3/5 past original stock. This is with the previous 1" "level" DJM Lower control arms Torsion bar key removal tool. Dad doesn't do all the work. Dad directs traffic. I help, but i try to let him (and his brother) get their hands dirty and do it themselves. I totally supervise and guide them though! 3 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong! meade916
Nothing makes me happier than to see my boys working together on a suspension. New sway bar end link bushings. Might as well the old ones were raggedy! Rumor had it i did NOT have to remove the axle to get the ball joint out. Found out you do. LOL!!! Oh well it was actually easy. Finding a 1 1/2" socket and an impact strong enough to pop the axel nut was not that easy. We got it though! Brand new shocks all the way around! New lower control arms installed, Torsion bars in place. 3 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
"Dad, do i need a panhard bar like your Tahoe"? Me with a big smile on my face, "why yes son." haha...glad to see he pays attention over the years. So proud. This adjustable panhard by by Spohn allows you to adjust the rear tires inward or out...when you lower this year of SUV (the similar models) the truck shifts and leaves one tire tucked and the other sticking out too far. The lower you go the worse it is. This fixes it. 6 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
When we first dropped it, i had never seen a set of wheels so far out of alignment before. It was so bad i thought we did something wrong. But a few turns of the tie rods and we were a lot better. I had to eyeball the alignment to get it close as possible. After taking a test drive i deemed it OK to drive home. It really worked out good. This morning we took it down to the alignment shop. It was BARELY off haha! Considering how bad it was and i just guessed it. Had my thumb up like Picasso and all that. [/url] Anyway, i am working on a little install video for those interested in seeing it in action rather than pics. It was a LOT of work and it's gonna be just as much work to edit this video with all the clips haha! thanks for watching! 2 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Broke_Audio_Addict
Looks way better now. I caught anthenys YouTube video earlier, You should post his video here along with yours, maybe he'll get some more subscribers. Quote That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
