Need help with OHM's

If you have a dual 1ohm sub. and you connect a mono amp to each coil, would the amp and sub be at 1ohm?

Or would you have to strap the two amps for 5000 watts @ 2ohm, then wire the dual 1ohm sub to 2ohm, then run the + and + from each amp to the sub, with both amp negs connected?

if you have a dual 1 ohm sub and you connect one amp per coil yes each amp will be wired at one ohm

Omg thank you, been researching for ever and couldent find it.

So would you use two t2500.1bdcp strapped for 5000@2ohm, and wire sub to 2ohm.

Or would you use two t2500.1bdcp wired each coil probly producing 3000 to 3500 watts each at 1ohm.

Guessing steve wires to each coil, but is 6000 to 7000 watts safe for the 5000 rms v2?

This is for a SMD 18 v2 which says 5000 rms.

So if he only had 1 amp for awhile before getting 2. what version sub would be best?

1 amp , d1 sub = .5 or 2 ohm load. 2 amps = could do 1ohm

1 amp , d2 sub = 1 or 4 ohm load. 2 amps = could do 1ohm or 2ohm strapped for 5000 watts, for a 5000rms sub.

But when you strap with to 2 ohm, can you run each amp to a coil? Or do you have to wire the d2 sub to 1ohm, and connect each amps + to the sub and connect the amps Neg to each other? At which case you cant do the 2ohm 5000 watts.

ive never strapped two amps,(but im pretty sure if you wire to 2 ohm the amps will still see 1ohm strapped) somebody else can chime in on this please.

i would go the easy route and wire one amp per coil. set gains with a dd-1 on one amp then use a cc-1 on the other amp. done deal

So you would just get a dual 2 ohm coil sub. Then just connect each amp to each coil? Or dual 1 ohm sub, and do the same thing.

If each coil is getting 3000 to 3500 watts with 1ohm, would that be bad for a 5000 rms sub. Would just getting the dual 2 ohm sub, and running each amp at 2ohms for closer to 5000 rms be better? Then with 1 amp and a dual 2 ohm sub, u can run 1ohm tell you get 2 subs?

Lol sorry for all these questions, im not very good at this stuff.

gotcha no worries we all start some where... here the thing seems to me like your not that much experience yet. so i would recommend you start off slow, you dont necessarily need to feed the sub 5000 watts to get it moving.

heres the thing with ascendant audio woofers when they say D1 the actually mean .7 ohms and when they say D2 they mean 1.4 ohms

heres my recommendation get a D1 (.7ohms) woofer wire it in series to make the final amp load 1.4 ohms that amp will give you enough power to get it moving

now when you get a little more experience and feel comfortable and the need for more power you can add another amp and wire each amp to its each coil

Awesome thanks again. one last question maybe you know. When we finally get two RF amps that have the BDsync or strapping what ever you wanna call it. When you do that, the slave amp is synced to the masters settings. With that hooked up can you still run each amp to each coil? Or do you have to do the NEG to NEG of each amp, and run both posatives to the sub, at which you cant run the 1ohm.

Or just dont worry about that cord, and try to set each amp close as i can to each other?

like i said im not sure how that works... if you go the route i mention you just have to worry about gain matching, which a smd cc-1 will take care of... i wouldn't worry about it too much

2 amps rated at 5k @ 1ohm, strapped will produce 10k @ 2ohms final load, make sure your amps are capable of being strapped, so if you wire to 1 ohm strapped, final load will be @ 2 ohms, wire to 2 ohm strapped, final load will be @ 4 ohms, the main thing to worry about is the wiring of the subs to each amp and the inputs as well....
