port length question

I am building an external octo port box for a 99 lumina.The subwoofer is a DC xl15 m2 running off 2200 rms the box is 3.75cf ,what port area and length should i use to get to a tune of 35hz ...thanks in advance

50 square inches of port area, 24" long for a 34Hz tuning with Vb =3.75, Pe=2200W. peak VV would be about 23 m/s.

Thanks Joe x ...Can I push the port in the box 5 inches without changing much, that would steal 362 sq in from the net box volume bringing it down to 6083 sq in. 24 inches plus the flare gets me too close to the back of the boot

If done right they look and sound very impressive and interchangable port leaves options,and as far as challenge I'm a carpenter so not that

There is really no difference between a round port and an octoport or even a slot port for that matter if they are all built properly.
Guaranteed that if all 3 style of ports where built right and the outcome is the same tuning frequency, velocity, etc you wouldnt be able to tell them apart in a blind test.

what he said, octoports look cool, I still believe a round port is most predictable.

The internal volume would go down to 3.52 cubic feet according to your calculations, if you want to keep the 34Hz tuning the port length needs to be about 27" or you can make the box a little bigger to cancel the port displacement and then the port length can stay at 24".

Thanks again Joe unfortunately the box part is already built and adding 3 inches to the port only gains me 2 inches clearance ...damn damn damn
