Sundown x15v2 port size question.

How's it going beautiful smd peeps ? I'm a new member so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot.

I'm an avid car audio enthusiast and have been collecting some goodies for my next build, which will prob me win me ride of the month. Just saying ??jk.

I'm a noob at woodworking. So prefer aeroport for simplicity's sake .

I'm building a box for for my 2015 charger. sundown x15v2. Scv3000 pushing it.

Box is gonna be 4.25cf after port. Tuned 34-36 My confusion is with port area. Sundown recommends 68sqin port area which if my math is correct I can get by making my port 14.5h 4.75w. If I go aero port even an 8in port would yield 50.27sq in. Am I wrong? I feel like an 8in port is way too big? Please clarify Thanks in advance

The bigger the better. Getting it to fit inside the box is another thing. A lot of times a compromise has to be made. I would do two 6s maybe.

91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco)

250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon)

G65 AGM Up Front  / Two G31 AGM in Back

Pioneer 80PRS

CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage

CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill

FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon)

Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

From a performance standpoint, its hard to have a port that's too big. They can get tough to fit in the enclosure though.

Since you are going to be pushing significantly more than RMS power, you are going to want a port that is AT LEAST as big as Sundown's recommendation. 80+ sq in would probably be even better.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I forgot to mention. It's d4 so I'm gonna run it at 2ohm (1.6 at the coils) so it'll prob see close to 2k. Should I ditch the aero and go slot or square?

Slot, square, and aero can all work well if implemented properly. It really comes down to what's going to work best with your install.

Would a 10in be good for 2k rms? Volume is gonna be around 4.5-5ft depending on if I'm forced to raise tuning a bit I've been messing around with the calc a bit and aero gives me the best net volume Box is gonna take up most of the trunk as is
